The season of celebrating temple activities is begining....
I was invited to several temples' activities in this week including tonight, as usual giving speeches. Now come back with a tired body....
********
In the market or coffee shop, people talk about inflation and economy down turn; when we went in the temple we saw people 'burning money'!
*********
On one hand people complaining of no money but on the other hand, they can buy the incense, candles and paper (money for the god) to burn.
Let say if we could change the pattern of celebrating temple's event. For example only give one incense per person and do not burn papers, it will save a lot of money and also save the world. Why? because ashes produce by these materials have polluted our environment.
Temple is a place for worship. People worship for peace, security (soul) and ..... I think it is time for the committee from each temple to review their role. Temple can perform as an education and social welfare centre. A real temple should provide religion education by enlightening the people. People are more generous when they are in the temple (perhaps in front of god?) and we can use the money donated by the people to help the poor or needy in the society.
If the committee in each respective worship place could extend their role, I think the present of temples will be meaningful for them and the society.
(very tired and not felling well today, my points are a bit messy)
