MPAJ President Do Not Want To Meet DAP Delegate ? ´òÓ¡ µç×ÓÓʼþ
2007/07/16, Monday
As a DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) International Secretary and a Director for DAP Teratai, I had been requested for a meeting with Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya (MPAJ) Yang di-Pertua Mohammad bin Yacob since the beginning of the year 2007 but was unsuccessful. YB Tan Kok Wai had sent a meeting request letter since March 2007 but it was unsuccessful also. Many of the local problems haven’t been solve, therefore, I am sending this memorandum on behalf of the residents to the Selangor Chief Minister YB DATO' SERI DR. MOHAMAD KHIR BIN TOYO because I want the voice of Teratai residents to be heard.

Since the establishment of DAP Teratai Community Centre, I have tried to pay a friendly visit to MPAJ Yang di-Pertua but the meeting never happened. Mohammad bin Yacob sent the MPAJ secretary or officers from Kemasyarakatan to meet me every time when I requested for a meeting. Every meeting with Yang di-Pertua delegate was disappointed as many questions that I raised during the meeting will never get an answer.

There are many complaints were initially directed to MPAJ but the complainant never get a reply thus they all came to DAP Teratai office. Besides, the website of MPAJ is just like a White Elephant project because normal people who email to MPAJ will never get any reply. Even I email to Yang di-Pertua, I have to demand for a email reply when receiving my email.

The attitude of MPAJ officers are arrogant and they did not respect DAP. This is due to the mayor and all councilors are not elected by the people, thus they don’t serve the people (even though they collected taxes). All the corrupted practice must be adjusted, the only way is to restore the local council election and allow the people to choose the best candidate to be the mayor and councilors.

As an opposition, we receive no fund and no support from the government but we continue to do our best for the people. If people could give full support to DAP candidate in the coming election, I am sure we can do more for the people and creates a check and balance mechanism in the Selangor State Assembly. Thus, many problems could be solved in an effective manner. By then Jenice Lee Ying Ha could enter the Selangor State Assembly to fight for the people without “hire” YB Ng Suee Lim as a spokesman.

Memorandum on Improving the Life Quality Of Residents in Teratai Constituency

DAP Teratai has received numerous complaints from the residents in Teratai Constituency since the beginning of this year. The demands from our residents includes getting back their reserve land, improving basic infrastructures, and reallocated workshops that built in the housing areas.

As a Director of the DAP Teratai Community Centre, I have been requesting a meeting with the Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya (MPAJ) Yang di-Pertua Mohammad bin Yacob from the beginning of year 2007 but was unsuccessful. YB Tan Kok Wai has sent a formal request in writing for a meeting since March 2007, but yet to hear from the MPAJ..We are passing this memorandum on behalf of the residents of the Teratai Constituency to the Selangor Chief Minister YB DATO' SERI DR. MOHAMAD KHIR BIN TOYO because we seriously want to solve the problems that our local residents are facing everyday and thus increase the quality of their lives.

Among these complaints, we are briefly introducing as follows:

1£©Pandan Perdana

There are 2 parcels of government reserve land located on Jalan Perdana 8/3 & Jalan Perdana 6/2.  The sizes are 5.3 ek and 1.71 ek respectively. According to the Country Act, every housing area must comprise a parcel of government reserve land for the building of facilities, such as a civic hall, park or school, that enhances the living of the residents in the area. The said reserve land in Pandan Perdana is occupied by some private sectors for profitable activities. Our residents demand the Selangor government to terminate the rental of these lands to private sectors and turn these lands into a “School Reserve Land”. Due to over 80% of the population in the area are Chinese and the children of our residents urgently need Chinese education.  Thus our residents strongly demand for a Chinese primary school to be built.

2£©Taman Maju Jaya

Each house owner of Jalan Bunga Melati 1, Taman Maju Jaya had signed in a petition for the building of 3 humps along the above-mentioned road (petition has already been submitted to the MPAJ and a copy has been sent to Yang di-Pertua). Jalan Bunga Melati is a straight road with approximately 800 meter long. Many motorists speed during night time, which put our residents’ lives in danger. Prior to this submission, our residents have already asked for these humps in writing for 3 months but have not heard from the MPAJ at all.

3£©Taman Seraya

The public field at Jalan Bunga Melati 4A, Taman Seraya, contains no facilities such as benches, exercises facilities, or playground at all except for grass. Huge trees around the field were chopped off throughout these years and the centre of the field is becoming barren. Our residents request a playground, some benches, a basketball court, rock path for foot therapy and some trees to be replant.

4£©Taman Muda

Customers and hawkers of the Taman Muda wet market complaint that their cars were locked and were issued summons by the MPAJ every morning due to the unobvious signage in the area. Because of the unexpected penalty, customers are reluctant to visit the market and the businesses in the market are severely affected. Along the road parallel to the wet market, there is only a small signboard stated that carlock is imposing in this area. The hawkers of the wet market request a few more obvious signboards to be set in the area so the car owners are warned.

Besides, the road along the Taman Muda wet market is highly congested and messy. Thus, we are urging the MPAJ to develop a complete plan to solve the traffic problems as soon as possible.

The street light along Jalan Bunga Tanjong 10 & 10A has not functioned for more than a year, therefore the hawkers and residents of the area ask the MPAJ to repair the lights as soon as possible.

5) Taman Bukit Teratai

A roundabout or traffic light need to built at the cross road in Taman Bukit Teratai urgently because the traffic is confusing and car accidents happened frequently. On top of that, there are some roads using the same road name which cause confusion. Our residents urge the MPAJ to rename the repeated road names.

No bus access to Bukit Teratai. Our residents urge the MPAJ to build a bus stop and modify some roads to arrange buses to serve the Bukit Teratai route.

The output of the street lights is insufficient to brighten up the streets at nights. The darkness will create a heaven for crimes and endanger pedestrians’ lives. So far a number of snatching cases have already happened. Our residents expect the MPAJ to check the entire street lights performance, change the light bulbs and build more street lights in the Bukit Teratai housing area. Brighter streets can drastically reduce crimes and provide a safer environment for our residents, especially women and children.

6£©Taman Mawar

Recently, there are many workshops and small factories set up in Taman Mawar. Taman Mawar is a residential. The big lorries from these workshops and factories park in the residential area. The workshops, factories, and lorries produce noise and bad smell from operations and productions.  This have polluted the clean and comfort environment which is how a residential area should be. Therefore, our residents strongly oppose the presence of the workshops, small factories and big lorries in their residential area. We would like to request the MPAJ to take action immediately.

7£©Taman Putra

There are two big commercial lorries park at 26, Jalan 7, Taman Putra every night. Since Taman Putra is a residential area, commercial lorries should be parked at some designated areas for commercial vehicles.

We hope to work hand in hand with the MPAJ to improve the quality of life of our residents.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

(LEE YING HA)

Director of DAP Teratai Community Centre

Dear Ms Jenice

I live in Jln Perdana 8/10. Part of the field/park located
between Jln Perdana 8/8 & 8/10 has been let out to Toyota to store their
new/used vehicles for the past couple of years - some residents have voiced out
our concern but alas no action has been taken so far. Toyota has fenced up
(blue) the area which, not only blocked our view and restricted the flow of air
but, has created some security concerns as by fencing up the area, has
contributed to the already very 'dark' surroundings particularly at night.
There were also some cases of snatch thieves due to this, a couple which went
unreported.

Would appreciate if you could look into getting the tenant i.e.
Toyota, to dismantle the "blue" fence as soon as possible.

Kind
regards, Anne
